Nursing Pre-Summit Workshop: Impact Of Advances In Hemostasis And Thrombosis On The Role Of The Nurse In The Coordination Of Care

Chicago Ballroom 6, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

This session will use case-based presentations of clinical challenges that impacted/expanded the role of the nurse.  These fast-paced 20-30-minute sessions will include adult and pediatric cases as well as topics in thrombosis and hemostasis.  Cases will be presented by Chris Guelcher, Jim Munn, Kim Shaffer, Laurel McKernan, Terri Schnur and Lynn Oertel.


Platelet Disorder Support Association (PDSA) Workshop: ITP Treatment Guidelines Update

It’s been ten years since the American Society of Hematology (ASH) guidelines and the International Consensus Report (ICR) Guidelines on the management of ITP were updated. Both sets of guidelines have now been revised and are based on expert opinion and center around best practice and published evidence emphasizing the outcomes of graded data, benefits and risks, and feasibility of implementation. Join PDSA Medical Advisor Michael Tarantino, MD for his presentation on how the guidelines differ, how treatment recommendations have changed, and how HRQoL plays a role in treatment preference.


NBCA Workshop: Patient Engagement in Thrombosis Research and Treatment. Why and How?

Engaging patients, families, and caregivers is an important and evolving area in VTE and PE research, prevention, and medical management. This session will explore why patient engagement is important throughout the healthcare continuum from bench to bedside and how learnings from patient engagement in research can be translated to clinical practice that results in the best outcomes for patients - a goal shared by every traveler on this journey.


Hemophilia Alliance Workshop: Sustainability of the HTC Pharmacy (340B) with Emerging Therapies (Invitation Only)

The Hemophilia Alliance will be holding a Pre-Conference session at HTRS/THSNA on Wednesday April 22nd, 2020. Lunch will be served at the meeting which begins at 1 pm. The meeting will be led by Joseph Pugliese President and CEO of the Hemophilia Alliance. The topic of the session is “Sustainability of the HTC Pharmacy (340B) with Emerging Therapies.” This will be an interactive session where we discuss financial models for emerging therapies. The current and pending changes make maintaining your current business and expanding your footprint critical for sustaining the comprehensive care mode. The Hemophilia Alliance continues to work with Insurance Companies, Brokers and Consultants to keep HTCs in network and continue to give them access to provide pharmacy services in dispensing factor products to their patients.

Women and Girls with Bleeding Disorders Learning Action Network (WGBD LAN) Collaborative Research Meeting (Invitation Only)

This meeting will be a meeting of WGBD LAN members attending THSNA who are participating in or have interest in collaborating on one or more WGBD LAN research projects. This meeting will be facilitated by FWGBD staff and WGBD LAN Chair: Kristina Haley, DO, WGBD LAN Research Subcommittee Chairs: Julie Jaffray, MD and Janice Staber, MD. Target Audience Description: Hematologists and nurses who are attending THSNA and are currently members of the WGBD LAN. (Must be a current member to attend.)
